Two different audiences: Shorts watchers wanting quick tips, long-form viewers wanting structured workouts. The two never crossed over because Shorts didn't tease the longer content.

What the strategy delivered

  1. 1Identified 5 'bridge' topics that worked as both 60s teaser and 12-minute deep-dive.
  2. 2Re-edited the last 5 seconds of every Short to explicitly point at the long-form companion video.
  3. 3Restructured long-form titles to include the Short's hook, so Shorts viewers recognized the bridge.
  4. 4Added a series architecture (4 episodes per topic) so the algorithm had something to recommend.

Outcome

Long-form CTR for Shorts viewers more than doubled. Long-form watch time per session went from 4.2 min to 9.1 min. Channel started getting recommended to non-fitness audiences.
